Three years later, the area nicknamed “Mocks Old Field” became the county seat of Davie and was incorporated as Mocksville. During the 1700s, Mocksville was home to pre-colonial frontiersman Daniel Boone and his parents, and his father served as a Justice of the Peace for Mocksville. Visitors can see the graves of Boone’s parents and his brother at the Joppa Cemetery.
