Welcome to 18035 Mallard Bend, where OLD meets NEW!!! Located in one of the original developments on Lake Keowee, this property has eastern distance views and a nice gentle slope to the lake. The house is under major re-construction by Southern Horizon Builders. The house was completely gutted, which included removing the old roof and replacing it with a new custom stick framed. All new Pella Lifestyle Series windows/doors (front door has been order - 6'x8' black metal/glass) electrical 400 amp service, HVAC - 3 units and plumbing, along with insulation (spray foam ceiling), sheetrock, trim, etc... are part of the rebuild. New fiber cement siding is being added now and the rough-in will start in July. The target date for completion of the house is by year-end 2022. A new dock, by Carolina Dock Co., is scheduled to be ready in early 2023. The 4 bedrooms/4.5 bathrooms house has three levels with the main level consisting of over 3300 sq. ft. and there’s an extra 12’x36’ bonus area above the garage. The main level features an open floor plan with 10’ ceilings and 3’x 8’ interior doors. In addition, there’s one large great room with a masonry fireplace that will not disappoint! Now is the time for a lucky homeowner to jump in and pick out their finishes – hardwood flooring, tile, stone, paint colors, appliances, lights and plumbing fixtures. The package includes custom cabinets drawn up from reputable cabinet maker. Wheelchair accessible throughout the main level including large walk-in shower. Other highlights: Oversized screened-in porch area, each bedroom connects to its own bathroom, 9’x22’ masonry fireplace that can serve as woodburning or gas, gas furnace/On-demand recirculating WH. The master BR (16’x22’) on the main has vaulted ceiling and individual his/her closets. Take advantage of this rare opportunity to own a lakefront property that has grandfathered stone 20’x16’ deck area that overlooks the lake and connects to your private dock - we have applied for permit to redo it. Plans include to flagstone front & back porch areas, stone fireplaces/chimney & under front porch, new garage doors, beams in great room, tile bathrooms with 2'x4' tiles and many other upgrades! This property resides in a subdivision with no HOA restrictions and allows for rental opportunities.

Seneca was originally founded as Seneca City, named for a Native American village in the area and the Seneca River. Seneca was situated at the intersection of the Blue Ridge Railroad and the Atlanta and Charlotte Air Line Railroad, which are now part of the Norfolk Southern Railway. Two engineers for the Air Line Railroad purchased the land from Colonel Brown of Anderson, South Carolina. The land was divided into one-mile lots stemming from a stake driven into the center of the railroad intersection, which marked the center of town. The town held an auction on August 14, 1873 and Seneca City received a charter on March 14, 1874. It wasn’t until 1908 that the town’s name was changed to Seneca.

Seneca became a prominent marketing and shipping point for cotton, and eventually, a passenger terminal, a number of hotels, and a park — now called Norton-Thompson Park — were built near the railroad tracks. Several textile mills were also erected in Seneca and most have since closed their doors.

The town saw significant growth with the construction of Lake Hartwell in 1963, Lake Keowee in 1971, and Lake Jocassee in 1974.
